Having an experienced assistant can make or break a shoot. Whatever your shoot needs are Brian is there for you. Brian has over 10 years of experience working on productions of all sizes. No job is too big or too small.
Do you need someone that not only knows what a crank-o-vator is, but can also operate one? Many assistants have never had any exposure to grip equipment. Brian has worked as a swing between grip and still departments on many jobs.
Brian has extensive equipment experience. He’s worked will all major strobe, HMI and tungsten systems. Brian has a working knowledge of most lighting equipment on the market like: Profoto, Broncolor, Speedotron, DynaLite, Kino Flo, Arri, Mole-Richardson and Desti to name few. There are not many camera systems Brian is unfamiliar with. He has worked with the following formats 35mm (Canon and Nikon), medium format(Hasselblad, Mamyia, Bronica, Contax and Rollie), view camera (4x5, 8x10, 24x36), pinhole, circuit cameras, X-Pan, Holga and speed graphics. Whatever your technical needs are he’s there for you.
Brian is experienced in all aspects of commercial photography from interior architecture to fashion to remote locations. Through his 10+ years of experience there are 2 traits that seem to be most valuable, professionalism and the ability to troubleshoot anything. Brian is only as good as his reputation, there is nothing more important to him than showing up early and maintaining a positive and professional attitude on set. He prides myself on anticipating your next move and having what ever you need next ready before you ask for it.
One of Brian’s strong suites is being able to fix or build just about anything. He is a very mechanical person, and has rebuilt engines and motorcycles, wired houses, built electronics and done some wood working. All of these skills are part of what makes him an excellent assistant. He has even rewired a gyro on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere while working on a car shoot. Whatever happens he can either fix it quickly or figure out a workaround.
